1997年 下北沢南口 “スズナリ横丁” の昭和歌謡スナックをDIY。APOLLOの前身となる『月灯 / getto』をオープンする。
2004年『APOLLO』をオープン。フリーインプロビゼーション、ノイズ、エレクトロニクス、アンビエント、現代音楽、ジャズ(順不同)など、多彩なライブを企画開催する。
2008〜2010年 本国である日本はもちろん、海外のアーティストの出演が徐々に増え始める。スウェーデン、ノルウェイ、デンマーク、フィンランド、スイス、チェコ、アイスランド、イギリス、オーストリア、ドイツ、ポーランド、フランス、イタリア、スペイン、トルコ、ロシア、アルゼンチン、カナダ、アメリカ、オーストラリアなど、アーティスト自身のクチコミによって少しずつ広がっていった。
2011年3月11日 東日本大震災が発生。深刻な経営難に陥る中、店内の改装を決行。演奏スペースを拡張する。以後、様々な講師を招いたワークショップを多数開催。ジャムセッションにも尽力する。
2013〜2019年 ピーター・エバンス、アイヴィン・ロニング、ロッテ・アンカー、ジャック・ドゥミエール、フランチェスカ・ハンなどが出演。多大な影響を受ける。(後に、ピーターエバンス以前 / ピーターエバンス以後、と命名)
2021〜2022年 コロナパンデミックの中、初のパソコンを導入。ホームページの制作に取り掛かるも挫折。店内のDIYをスタートする。仕上げとして念願のフィルジョーンズ・ベースアンプを導入。続いて念願のホームページが完成。ジャムセッションの開催総数が目標の1800回に達する。
In 1997, “Suzunari Yokochō,” a Showa-era enka-style snack bar, was DIYed near the Minami-guchi (south exit) of Shimokitazawa. It later opened as “Tsukiakari / Getto,” the predecessor of APOLLO.
In 2004, “APOLLO” was established. It organized and hosted a diverse range of live performances, including free improvisation, noise, electronics, ambient, contemporary music, and jazz (in no particular order).
From 2008 to 2010, not only in Japan but also gradually increasing overseas, artists from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Iceland, UK, Austria, Germany, Poland, France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Russia, Argentina, Canada, USA, Australia, and more started to perform, thanks to word-of-mouth recommendations from the artists themselves.
On March 11, 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred. Facing severe financial difficulties, renovations were carried out within the establishment, expanding the performance space. Since then, numerous workshops with various instructors were held, and efforts were made to foster jam sessions.
From 2013 to 2019, performers such as Peter Evans, Ivar Grydeland, Lotte Anker, Jack Wright, and Francesca Han made appearances, greatly influencing the scene (later referred to as “pre-Peter Evans” and “post-Peter Evans”).
In 2021 and 2022, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, APOLLO introduced its first computer. Although attempts to create a website were initially unsuccessful, DIY efforts within the venue began. Finally, the long-awaited Phil Jones bass amplifier was acquired, followed by the completion of the desired website. The total number of jam session events reached the goal of 1800 sessions.
